This is Hurley's first return to the area since he was the featured vocalist with THE CHIEFTAINS at their sold-out Count Basie Theater Concert last year. Hurley & The Gents performed at The Asbury Park Guinness Festival the year prior.

Hurley will perform The House That Horse Built in it's entirety, songs from his forthcoming album, many of his classics including 'Amsterdam Mistress' (featured on SONY RECORDS Whiskey in the Jar compilation) and a few surprise standards.

Hurley will be joined by some Top Gents & luminaries for this show. • A very special semi-acoustic appearance from acclaimed NYC songwriter Joe Hurley & Friends featuring special guest, the best-selling author Colum McCann. It will be performed by many of the musicians on the recording (see CD's European press release) and Hurley will also be playing a number of The Gents tunes.   The acclaimed psych-horror film I Sell The Dead opens this Friday Aug. 7th at the Quad Cinema (34 W 13th St.) in NYC. Director Glen McQuaid recorded a raucous version of Joe Hurley performing the trad tune "Waxie's Dargle" for the film's soundtrack. Hurley's performance of the song takes place during the film's riotous tavern scene.
• The film opens in LA August 14th and in Boston August 18th. Starting August 12th, the IFC film can be ordered through VOD.

He and his wife Katie started the group shortly before Timmy's death to help out other families afflicted by ALS, and Katie has continued the great work of this charity.

On Xmas Eve, he was badly injured in a car accident, and we are throwing this benefit to help him with his medical and living expenses.
