7th Annual All-Star Irish Rock Revue Singers

NEW YORK MAGAZINE, MARCH 13th, 2006 - Nicole LaRossa

"Joe Hurley's All-Star Irish-Rock-a-palooza gets rave reviews every year as the biggest St Pat's party in town. Hurley himself is revered for his soulful, Shane MacGowan-esque baritone, and local talent covers paddy-rock favorites like U2, Thin Lizzy, Sinead, and The Pogues."

NEW YORK PRESS SHORTLIST, Fri, Mar 17th

Usually when a promoter lists a few headliners and concludes with "and many more", it's hyperbole. Not so at the 7th Annual ALL-STAR IRISH ROCK REVUE, which lists an eyebrow-raising 44 participating singers. Big names this year include Michael Cerveris, currently starring in Sweeney Todd; Steve Conte, playing with his own band and the reunited New York Dolls; and Richard Lloyd of Television. The Revue celebrates the Emerald Isle's contribution to the canon, with performers covering tunes by Irish Rockers including Thin Lizzy, Van Morrison, Sinead O'Connor, Morrissey, The Pogues, an up-and-coming outfit called U2 "and many more". Really. Also, count on a few traditional tunes, some interpreted in not-so-traditional ways. Count on it being one hell of a pisser. Just write Saturday off now. GREAT LINE-UP FOR IRISH REVUE
IRISH VOICE, March 1 , 2006 - Mike Farragher, Music Editor

"It seems hard to believe that Joe Hurley has been delighting rock audiences for seven years with his annual All-Star Irish Rock Revue. Hurley, the gloriously disheveled, gravel-throat punk who fronts the legendary underground band Rogue's March, invites a host of singers each St Patrick's to sing Irish-penned songs in front of his white-hot band. You might hear the band warm up on the hot soul of Van Morrison's "Domino" before they take a sharp turn into the Undertones' "Teenage Kicks".

This year is no exception, as Steve Conte(New York Dolls), Michael Cerveris (lead on Broadway's Sweeney Todd revival) and many others will converge on the Bowery Ballroom on March 17th. Get there when the revolving door of stars begin at 7pm and you will be treated to an acoustic Cajun-Celtic set by the Itinerants"

ST PAT'S ROCK REVUE RETURNS, MAR 15 2006 - IRISH VOICE

If you're looking for something a tad stronger than the angelic voice of Ronan Tynan this St Patrick's Day, might I suggest Joe Hurley's seventh Annual All-Star Irish Rock Revue?

It will be held this year on Friday at Manhattan's Bowery Ballroom, beginning at 8pm. If you have never been to one of these shows, then you clearly have yet to do the big green holiday right in New York City, plain and simple. The St Patrick's Day Extravaganza features an extraordinary mix of top singers performing all the Irish Rock classics, backed by Joe Hurley's crackerjack Rogue's March band. While Rogue's March are known for their snarling rock riffery that provides Hurley's gravelled vocals such cover, they can also turn on a dime, and play melodies from the likes of Thin Lizzy, U2, Van Morrison, Morrissey, Undertones, Costello, Sinead O'Connor, and The Waterboys to name a few. Tickets are on sale online at ticketweb.com . Tix are also available at Mercury Lounge Box Office (217 E Houston st 212 260 4700)
