Dear friends - tonight is the BIG night!

Joe is back from the UK, and has assembled his merry "Gents" for TONIGHT'S CD release concert for Joe Hurley & Colum McCann's The House That Horse Built (Let The Great World Spin) at Joe's Pub. The show features Joe Hurley & The Gents and very special guest, the 2009 National Book Award winner (and Amazon's #1 book of the year), Colum McCann.

Tickets are on sale now at JoesPub.com.

One of the tracks, Let The Great World Spin, is now streaming at the official MySpace page. Take a listen, enjoy, repeat. The physical CD, as well as the digital download, is available at CD Baby and at RoguesMarch.com (December iTunes date TBA).

With Joe Hurley and fellow Gent James Mastro celebrating their birthdays, McCann celebrating his awards (and joining The Gents on stage for reading/music), and the CD being released all on the same night, it will surely be a memorable evening!

ABOUT THE HOUSE THAT HORSE BUILT (LET THE GREAT WORLD SPIN)

Joe Hurley & Colum McCann's songwriting collaboration has resulted in a glorious 12 minute epic of a song, sprawling across the wastelands and heartbreaks of a prostitute's life in 1974 NYC.

With Hurley on vocals and guitar, the EP features a stunning cast of musicians including Tony Shanahan (Patti Smith), James Mastro (Ian Hunter), Kenny Margolis (Cracker), Matt Sweeney (Johnny Cash, Bonnie "Prince" Billy), gospel great Tami Lynn (Stones, Dr. John, Dylan), Denis Diken (Smithereens), soul-singing film-star Antonique Smith, Faith Hahn, Joe Mcginty, and 6-time Grammy winning Paddy Moloney of the legendary Chieftans.

This limited edition EP was produced by Don Fleming (Pete Yorn, Sonic Youth) and will be available at the Joe's Pub show. This EP is the first part of Hurley/McCann's recording project that will ultimately see a full-length CD of songs inspired by the novel, to be released next year.

McCann and Hurley recently returned from a month-long tour of Europe where they launched both the book and the EP, performing together to packed venues from London to Paris, Hamburg to Berlin, Zurich to Vienna!

Upcoming performance:

"Outstanding concert performances... Best of all was Joe Hurley's rumbling-bass baritone version of Send in the Clowns."
      NEW YORK TIMES October 2008

"One of the most electric, profound novels... in years. Let the Great World Spin is an emotional tour de force. It is a heartbreaking book, but not a depressing one. (It) can feel like a precursor to another novel of colliding cultures: “The Bonfire of the Vanities”.
      NY Times Book Review
